Get Ready For National Trails Day With Hike The Heights VI
Hike the Heights is an annual family-friendly event that combines art, physical activity, and fun. The day is composed of hiking Northern Manhattan Park Trails, participating in artistic activities, and celebrating. The hikes culminate in a festival of the parks celebration, or a “neighborhood potluck party” of group contributions.
Walking proudly into it’s 6th year, Nursha Project is proud to provide services for Hike the Heights VI, an event organized by CLIMB (City Life Is Moving Bodies). CLIMB is a partnership between Columbia University Medical Center and community-based organizations in Northern Manhattan. As a community partner, Nursha Project is dedicated to CLIMB’s mission of ensuring that people have access to safe parks and neighborhoods regardless of their socioeconomic status, as safe parks and neighborhoods are essential to achieving community health.
This year, Hike the Heights VI will take place on Saturday, June 5th, 2010 on National Trails day. Hiking trails include Central Park, Jackie Robinson Mark, St. Nicholas Park, Swindlers Cove, and the Ring Garden. This year additional starting points including Morningside Park have been added. The event will culminate at the Sunken Playground at Highbridge Park on 167th and Edgecomb Avenue.
